Yoga and Ayurveda in Sri Lanka

Yoga and Ayurveda are well established subjects in Sri Lanka. These two forms of alternative medicines are quite common in the Indian Sub-continent. If you happen to know something of these two, you may feel like they are somewhat connected, and you are right; each of these forms of medicine deal with concepts that are quite similar. Yoga and Ayurveda in Sri Lanka is quite similar to what is practiced in India, save a few exceptions. Sharing the same place of origin is not the only connection between Yoga and Ayurvdea. As a matter of fact, they also share each of their goals. You see, Yoga seeks to unite the mind with the body; this is also one of the aims of Ayurveda. Yoga seeks to achieve its goals through exercise via different postures, while Ayurveda is there to heal and rejuvenate the body via other means. It does not mean they don’t overlap each other. In fact, certain Ayurvedic practices such as the ayurvedic massage is performed as part of Yoga, while certain Yoga exercises can help rejuvenate the body and excrete toxins, which is the aim of Ayurveda.

So by now you must be aware of the connection between Yoga and Ayurveda and how they share the same goals and concepts.
